This blog is simply about anything that my mind tells the fingers to jot down. Many times they come late at night, others at work and occasionally in the toilet heading for that big drop. Most entries are about life in the "land of chocolate" and things that I love to do - mountain biking, photography, snowboarding and a bit of running.

Back in KL!

I was glad to be back in KL. Although it was already late, around 12.30 AM, the first thing I looked for upon arrival in KL Sentral was nasi lemak. I missed Malaysian food so much!

My observation of Beijing:

1. If you are taking a cab, do NOT enter from the left side. You can try, but most of the time you'll realise that the door is locked and the driver will refuse to open it for you. Don't ask me why. But I think it's because of i) Some of the old cabs are pretty small and as a result there is not enough room for a sitting person behind the driver (bear in mind that cars are left-hand driven in China).

2. I think most cars including cabs are not fitted with air conditioner. You will realise most cars have the windows half open.

3. English is almost not spoken at all. So, it's a good idea to have a map of the city with places names written in both English and Mandarin. It helps to direct your cab driver to your destination.

4. If you are a vegetarian, it's quite difficult to get any food that is meat free.

5. Call girls are all over the places especially during night time. But, take note that prostitution is illegal in China. Do it at your own risk.

6. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THE HARD ROCK CAFE! Why? Because the merchandise are very expensive and you can get the EXACT same t-shirt or cap at one tenth of the price in the local clothing markets.

7. Spare some money for shopping. Branded clothings and silks are so cheap. You will never regret if you spend so much on them.
